R&D Project – Abrasif Tools 2

Greetings, everyone!

We’re thrilled to present to you our exciting project, the Abrasif Tools 2. As part of our first-year industrial engineering master’s degree at HELHa, we’ve been tasked with developing a machine for the Haute Ecole Louvain en Hainaut represented by Mr Michel. Our team comprises two talented automation students, Arthur Cloquette and Yoanna Verhoye, and our project is supervised by Mr Solbreux. Our mission is to develop a machine that can measure the kinetic friction coefficient of different materials accurately. This machine will be a game-changer for both bachelor’s and master’s level mechanical laboratories.

Although a similar machine has been developed before, it has never provided the precise results required. So we’re starting from scratch to correct any mistakes made in the previous design. The previous interface was developed using “LabView,” which is now outdated, and the client no longer has the necessary licenses to use it. Our group will need to study and develop a calculation note to determine the friction coefficient and create a new user interface. We’ll also need to adapt the electrical installation to meet our needs.

Our project involves verifying and modifying electrical schematics, developing the calculation note, searching for the best controller and user interface, adding any necessary improvements to the current machine, and providing the client with a price offer that respects their allocated budget and timelines. Our device will primarily determine the kinetic friction coefficient of various materials.

Overall, our project will provide a practical solution for the client’s needs while also providing valuable experience for our group’s development. We hope our video will capture your interest and enthusiasm for our project.

Thank you for watching!
