Hello everyone, I am Guillaume an engineering student in chemistry and I am going to give you a feedback about the research project that we did this year with Marie and Nathan.
The project consists of making an automated system that can follow the interface of a decantation column.
To complete this challenge, we explored three possibilities:
– Buying an already existent sedimentation captor: It was too expensive.
– Making our own sedimentation captor: It was too sensitive and fragile.
– Performing a computer processing on a movie of the decantation column: The most efficient and reliable way
We used the third option. The system is composed of a camera that films the decantation column relied on an automate which performs an image processing.
Finally, if we should do it again, we would use the same solution because we are convinced that it’s the most efficient and sustainable.
