Video 1: “When hop meets technology”

I’m Julian Barone; a student enrolled in the fourth year of a chemical engineering study at HELHA.

Abstract

Today pigs are fed with too many antibiotics. It’s not good news because they are found in human food. Their presence could lead us to antibiotics resistance.

A solution is found by the Center of Research of the engineering school of Helha that discovered a molecule that can substitute antibiotics characteristics without having the matter of antibiotics resistance: it’s about beta acids.

As part of this, my team and I are responsible to try to extract this molecule, which is found in hops, by using an electrodialysis with bipolar membranes
In this video, I show some considerable parts of this project, tools we used, and the general working of the electrodialysis with bipolar membranes.

I hope that this video will bring you useful information, maybe by making you love Chemistry
